For those of you who only buy lumber at say Home Depot or Lowes - this is how stock comes before it is planed down to the 3/4" boards that you are use to seeing.  It's known as 4/4 in size - and you may have noticed that the Walnut in previous pictures was purchased the same way.  So anyway - it needs to cut and planned down to size.
